Dental Services for Lakewood Dallas Families

Making Lakewood Smile Since 1988

As our patient, you’ll have access to a comprehensive approach to dental care. Recent studies support this approach. Oral health is linked to overall systemic health concerns. For instance, gum disease is associated with increased risk for stroke, heart attack, diabetes complications, and other health problems. So a healthy mouth is imperative for overall wellness.

In addition, a misaligned bite can cause physical discomfort outside of the mouth. Dr. Vanderbrook will assess your occlusion – how upper and lower teeth fit together – as well as the alignment of your jaw joints, when planning dental work. New fillings, crowns, veneers, and prosthetics must work with existing teeth and occlusion for optimal results – in function and longevity.

Another concern with modern patients is esthetic, or cosmetic, dentistry. Everyone wants an attractive smile, and rightfully so. Dr. Vanderbrook works with talented dental ceramists and use durable, natural looking materials for gorgeous smiles.

Preventive Dentistry

The path to great oral health and an unforgettable smile starts with regular dental care and maintenance. Dr. Vanderbrook recommends thorough checkups and dental hygiene appointments. At your checkup, we’ll update your records, discuss immediate concerns, and answer your questions about your oral health.

Dr. Vanderbrook has invested in digital X-rays and intraoral cameras for detailed images that aid in accurate diagnostics. They’ll perform an oral cancer screening and assess your jaw joints and occlusion (how upper and lower teeth fit together), as well as each tooth in your mouth. If you suffer with chronic head or neck pain, teeth grinding, snoring, or sleep apnea, please tell us during your visit. Dr. Vanderbrook will explain their findings and discuss treatment options to maximize your potential for long-term oral health.

During your checkup, you’ll meet with our hygienist for a comprehensive periodontal (gum) exam, charting, and teeth cleaning. The hygienist can answer questions about your oral homecare routine. If you show a proclivity for or currently have gum disease, she’ll address the condition by providing options for conservative, yet effective therapy. Learn more:

Children’s Dental Care

We love children. Bring your child in for a complimentary Happy Visit around age one or two. This appointment will include a tour of the office, a “ride” in the dental chair, and brushing a stuffed animal’s teeth. A Happy Visit will allow your child to become familiar with our office and team.

Most children don’t need to visit a pediatric dentist unless they have serious oral health concerns or an aversion to dental visits. At a kid’s checkup, Dr. Vanderbrook will look inside the child’s mouth for developmental issues or tooth decay. If the child is old enough, our hygienist will gently clean his or her teeth. We’ll spend 30 minutes talking with you and your child about dental health, including the dangers of sugary beverages and cereals. The more you understand about how to care for young teeth, the healthier your child’s smile can be! Learn more:

Restorative Dentistry

After your exam, Dr. Vanderbrook will present you with treatment options. They’ll explain their findings, show you digital images of your teeth, and help you determine the best course of treatment. Our team considers all dentistry “cosmetic.” This means that we’ll provide restorations to keep your smile white and attractive. Whether you need cavities filled, chips repaired, or awkwardly spaced teeth realigned, Dr. Vanderbrook will recommend the appropriate esthetic restorations to give you a beautiful, healthy smile. Dental Implants

Are you missing teeth? Many people struggle with uncomfortable, ill fitting, and loose or slipping dentures. Others need just one or two teeth replaced. Dental implants offer a replacement tooth option that mimics nature’s design. Dr. Vanderbrook works with several trusted Periodontists and Oral Surgeons, providing an interdisciplinary approach to dental implant placement. During a brief surgery, small posts are placed into the sockets left by missing teeth. Each post can hold a crown, or a few can anchor a denture, partial, or bridge. With implants, you will not have to worry about special care routines, and your teeth will look, feel, and function like nature intended. Learn more:
